Cardiac Exams
Nuclear Stress Test:
- Do not eat anything 4 hours prior to the test. You may drink plenty of water
- NO caffeine, including coffee, soda, tea, chocolate, cocoa etc.
- NO decaffeinated drinks
- NO cigarettes
- Diabetic patients should consult with their primary physician regarding fastin instructions
- Take your medications prior the test (see below for exercise patients ans bring a list of them with you
- There will be a break during the test, so bring a snack with you in case you get hungry
Exercise (Treadmill) Regular & Nuclear Stress test
- Wear sneakers, comfortable pants and a short sleeve top without any kind of metal buttons
- NO BETA BLOCKER MEDICATIONS FOR 6 HOURS PRIPR TO YOUR TEST (Bisopolol, Bystolic, Carvedilol, Core, Inderal, Labetalol, Metoprolol, Nadolol, Propranolol, Sotalol, Tenormin, Trandate or Zebeta)
- NO CALCIUM CHANNEL BLOCKER MEDICATIONS FOR 6 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR TEST (Carizem, Cartia, Diltiazem)
Myocardial Perfusion Imaging 78452
NPO 4 hours prior to appointment for the rest scan. Caffeine is held 24 hours prior to testing.
Myocardial Perfusion Imaging with Regadenoson (Lexiscan) 78452/J2785
The patient is prepared in the usual manner for a pharmacologic stress test including:
- The patient should be instructed not to eat or drink for 4 hours prior to the test and to refrain from any products containing caffeine the day of the test (at least 24 hours)
- Meds to avoid 24hrs prior to test: Excedrin
